FORWARDED IN ERROR: Halachos of Shiva Asar Bi’Tammuz; exemption from fasting for pregnant & nursing women and those who are ill
Contact →I had not read the rabbi's request to *not* forward the below, due to
differences of opinion -everyone should ask their own/local rav if they
have fasting questions.

fasting for pregnant & nursing women and those who are ill
Pregnant and nursing women generally do not fast on *Shiva Asar BiTammuz*.
The
only circumstance in which a pregnant/nursing woman would fast is if she
would
feel fine at the end of the fast, which is highly unlikely given the hot
weather and the length of the fast. If someone knows that they will not
complete the fast, they are not obligated to begin fasting and break it
when feeling weaker; one may eat normally from the beginning of the day.
As a general point: someone who feels ill is exempt from fasting on *Shiva
Asar BiTammuz*, even if there is no danger at all.
*All of this is especially important this year due to the exceedingly high
temperature. Everyone should be careful to avoid potential danger.*
A more detailed discussion of some of these Halachos is in the attached
document.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
*Bivracha*,
Rabbi Cohen
P.S. Rabbonim have different approaches to these *Halachos*. These
guidelines should *not* be repeated to others as the exclusive and
definitive *Halacha*, and they should not be disseminated via any email
group.
