“Reb Yerucham Levovitz tz”l (a Mashgiach, Supervisor, over
the students in Yeshiva Mir, Poland.) taught: “A person is like a compass
in that the pointer naturally goes in the north direction. However, were a
person to take off the compass glass and pull the pointer away from the
north to another direction then the pressure of his finger will
redirect the pointer
to that direction. Similarly, the neshama of every Jew naturally
desires to do Hashem’s will. However, were a person to become distracted from
being in touch with his focus on why he is alive -to serve Hashem and all
that it entails- then he will not feel his innate drive to serve Hashem.”
