The campaign to re-elect Ritchie Torres is closing in on Stage II.
Surprisingly, despite being a sitting Congressman, all candidates have to
submit signature sheets supporting the candidacy. Although the number seems
low, many signatures will be thrown out for a variety of technical reasons
and so, multiples of the base number need to be collected.
Riverdale comprises numerous apartment buildings where outsiders cannot come
in and collect signatures. Therefore, I am looking for volunteers from
different buildings who can give some time to collecting signatures
according to the rules of their buildings. Signature sheets will start being
given out on Sunday and the campaign starts on Tuesday, next week the 24th.
